Bistrica – River in Aegean

Bistrica – River in the Aegean part of Macedonia, Republic of Greece. It is the second largest river in Macedonia. It springs from the southwestern parts of the Vernon mountain, west of the top Vitoi (2,128 m), and the Aegean Sea flows to the Thessaloniki Bay and together with the R. Vardar build delta. It is 297 km long, and the basin covers an area of ​​2 of 6,971.7 km. From the source to the north of the Vunosa Mountain (1,588 m) flowed in the northwest-southeast direction, and hence the skothes turn in the southwestern northeast direction. Before the estuary in the Thessaloniki Gulf again receives a direction of leak northwest-southeast. Due to the small decline and frequent floods in the Thessalonika Field, its basin is regulated.
