Pelagonia Metropolis of the Constantinople Patriarchate (1878-1918) – its seat was in Bitola. In the diocese, the majority of the population was Macedonian, the local self-government (church municipalities) developed, and the most significant were of Bitola and Prilep. Although it was the diocese of the Ecumenic Constantinople Patriarchate, the Pelagonija Mitropolio was a significant supporter of Greek propaganda. Especially after 1870, when the Bulgarian Exarchate was formed, it defended the endangered positions of Greekism in that part of Macedonia. Its representatives collaborated with the Greek consulate in Bitola, although they always did not have the same views. He also collaborated with the Ottoman authorities against the MoR.
