Road traffic – individual (passenger cars), public (vehicles of public passenger transport – buses) and freight traffic (light and heavy freight vehicles). The dominant role in road traffic has passenger cars. The development of automotive traffic in the world and leads to the construction of many new roads and to the reconstruction and modernization of the existing (c. Road network). After World War II in the Republic of Macedonia there were only 6 km of roads with contemporary roadway (asphalt-concrete) and with a degree of motorization one vehicle of 2,800 inhabitants.
