Lekovski, Alexander

Levovski, Alexander (Nis, 11. 1933) – Conductor and composer. In 1959 He graduated from the Music Academy in Belgrade (Prof. J. Zdravkovic), where he and the Master’s (1967). He was specialized in Italy. Since 1960 he works as a conductor in the opera and ballet of MNT. Two years (1975-1977) was the duty director of this institution. In the MNT with success, more than 20 opera and 15 ballet works of the classical, contemporary and domestic repertoire. Significant performances, operas: Carmen, Aida, Boemes, Toska, Prince Igor, pants, Travia, Troubadour, Ballets: Kopelia, Romeo and Julia, Ohrid legend, Don Quixote. He also performed at the concert podium as a symphony conductor, realizing a large and versatile repertoire. In the period 1982-1986, he was director of the Macedonian Philharmonic. He visited in several European countries and in the larger music centers of the former Yugoslavia. Deals with compositor activity. Created more symphonic and chamber creations, a growing number of choral compositions, as well as two ballet: (aspirations and elan). F. M.
