Workers’ University Koco Racin

Rabotnicki University “Koco Racin” – Skopje – Leading institution for adult education in the Republic of Macedonia. It was established at the initiative of the Messured Trade Union Council (19. 1953) in order to meet the educational and cultural needs of working people. He exercised the activity by organizing massive and systematic forms of work: public lectures, cycle of lectures, literary evenings, music performances, exhibitions, seminars and courses in various areas, as well as school forms for primary and vocational education. In the five-day existence, over 760,000 listeners passed through his activities, of which over 220,000 attended primary education, 58,000 secondary schools, about 100,000 – foreign language courses and over 170,000 – courses for various occupations and qualifications. After 1962 Educational activity was carried out through centers, such as basic organizational and working units. In 1974 The National University is joined by the National University in Skopje, which has previously operated as a separate institution for adult education (c. People’s universities). Today, it is a modern organized Andragogical institution, with worked programs and forms, with modern means and methods of work and with appropriate professional staff. His programmatic and modular structure consists of: courses for studying foreign languages, vocational education from several professions and occupations, courses in the field of information education, as well as forms for preparation of students and students for continuing education.
