Vlach autonomist movement Legion of the Vlachs

Vlach autonomist movement “Legion of the Vlachs” (1941-1943) – ethno political and armed movement of Vlachs in Thessaly, from the western Aegean part of Macedonia and in northwestern Epirus under the leadership of Alkivadis, organized with the support of the “Flori” support of the Italian occupying Army. The movement declared (1941) creating Vlach principality (“Princtience of Vlachs”) under the Samarina-based protectorate. After the capitulation of Italy (September 1943) the movement collapsed; Part of the leading figures went to Romania, and the other members surrendered weapons, while some of them joined ELAS.
