Traffic – significant activity for the development of the total economy, which in the past period has been very uneven development. By the Second World War, rail traffic was developed only. Road traffic, post office and telecommunications were poorly developed, primitively organized and took place after earth roads and with quarrel. In the postwar period, the general development of the traffic activity was uneven, more than that of the total economy. The water (lake) traffic was undeveloped, and the pipeline did not exist. Significant traffic branches in Macedonia were: rail, road, city, air, postal and telecommunications traffic. The main rail lines in Macedonia were built in the second half of ⅹⅰⅹ c. These were railway lines: Thessaloniki-Skopje (1874), Skopje-Ristovac (1888), Thessaloniki-Bitola (1894), Veles-Stip-Kocani (1926) and Veles-Bitola (1936). After the Second World War, the Skopje-Kichevo line was built (1952) and Copper Gumnovo (1955). The total length of the built lines with a normal track is 697 km. The length of the electrified railway is only 189 km (Ristovac-Skopje-Gevgelija). The railway has about 2,400 wagons, with a tendency for their reduction.
