The development of insurance in the Republic of Macedonia. After the end of the Second World War, the property of the insurance companies from the pre-war Yugoslavia was transformed into folk, ie state property. The insurance companies that were confiscated are merged in the State Insurance and Reinsurance Office. The development of socialist insurance and reinsurance until the collapse of the SFRY has gone through three phases: administrative-centralist insurance, decentralized insurance and insurance adequate according to constitutional changes. After the independence of the Republic of Macedonia, the Law on the basics of the property and persons insurance system was adopted, thus creating conditions for transformation of insurance institutions in market financial institutions in the form of joint stock companies. The insurance of properties and persons is voluntary, except for the compulsory insurance of passengers in public transport and users, that is, the owners of motor vehicles and aircraft of liability for damages caused by third parties. Later, with the adoption of the Law on Insurance of Property and Persons and the Law on Insurance Supervision, the insurance and reinsurance issues are fully regulated, ie in all segments of the insurance process, European insurance standards and accounting standards and the actors are fully regulated. Insurance companies can establish domestic legal entities and individuals. The census of the Guarantee Fund for establishing an insurance company and persons for individual classes for non-life insurance, life insurance and reinsurance amounted to: for insurance works within the classes of non-life insurance is from 500,000 to 2,500,000 euros; For covering the risks of life insurance The guarantee fund should be greater than 750,000 euros, and for performing reinsurance works must not be less than 1,500,000 euros.
