Stojchev, Boris

Stojchev, Boris (Bitola, 1. ⅵ 1924) – Physicist, Order. Prof. (1964) at the University of Toronto and Honorary Professor, a member of MANA outside the working composition (1981). In Canada since 1931, he graduated (1947) and PhD (1950) at the University of Toronto. Before that, he worked for 13 years in the National Research Council in Ottawa. In top St. Boris Stojchev, Sania published more than 150 observed articles related to the interaction of light and matter, Ramanova spectroscopy with high resolution and nonlinear optics. He made the first laser in Canada and found ingenious applied to lasers for research purposes. He managed the preparation of 25 doctoral dissertations. He published (2002) extensive biography of his mentor, Nobel’s Laureate Gerhard Herzberg. Bill Dean (1972-77) at the Faculty of Engineering in Toronto, President of the American Society for Optics (1976) and the Canadian Physics Association (1983-84), a multi-year member of the Canada and Secretary (1996) of the International Association for clean and applied physics. He obtained honors in Canada and other countries, a member of the academies of Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom and India. Lit.: Sixth Election Assembly.
