Solid communal waste – cities and villages are defined as urban and rural ecosystems, which are characterized by trade of substances and energy necessary for citizens’ feeding and production. After their utilization, only products are not obtained, but also waste disposal. After the use of endogenous energy from food products, solid communal waste is created. Its composition is a variable magnitude that depends on the degree of processing of food products and the way of their packaging. Progress in technology allow foodstuffs to package in a varied packaging: paper, cardboard, glass, plastic substances and metal. Cities and rural settlements such as heterroofic ecosystems in the dietary, daily require the introduction of various food products (fresh and processed), of which after their utilization, a solid communal waste is created. In the production processes, there are various materials, and in the heating season and large amounts of solid fumes, which after their utilization create ash as waste. It also includes waste generated in reconstruction of habitats and business premises. A large amount of solid communal waste is created daily, which should be saved at a landfill. With a systemic organization, in which citizens become active subjects in its sustainable management, a selection of waste can be organized and creating conditions for re-utilization of substances as secondary raw materials.
