Protogerov, Aleksandar (Ohrid, 23. 1867 – Sofia, 7. 1928) – Head of VMRO. He was educated in Ohrid and Sofia, where he finished military school (1887). He participated as a volunteer in the Serbian-Bulgarian war (1885). He was a member of VMC, Duke in Gornoduma (1902) and Ilinden Uprising (1903). He was a reserve member of the Central Committee (1911), chairman of the Executive Committee of Macedonian Charities in Bulgaria (1912-1918). In the Balkan wars, he was a member of the Macedonian-Drainage headquarters, and at the time of the Bulgarian occupation in the First World War he was the deputy chief of the Macedonian Military Inspection Obestel, produced in the General Layer of the Bulgarian army. After the war with T. Aleksandrov and P. Chaulev renewed VMRO. He was a signatory of the May manifesto (1924), a member of the VMRO CC. In mutual struggles with the supporters of the Mikhailist VMRO he was killed in Sofia by the Mikhailist VMRO.
