Orchard

Fruit – mosaic orographic, climatic and soil conditions in the Republic of Macedonia allow for cultivation of thirty continental, subtropical and new fruit crops. The greatest development orchard reaches during 1980-1990 (up to 24,000 ha orchards and over 200,000 t fruits). After 1991 The areas of fruit plantations are reduced to 16,000 ha, and the production of 100,000-120,000 t. In the transition period orchards in the social sector is reduced to a minimum, but has an increase in the private sector, especially the apple in Prespa. In the last two years (2004, 2005) of 7.7 million Rodney stems were received 153.7 thousand t fruit. The leading culture is apple with 3.6 million native stems and production of 84.3 thousand t. B.
