Natural reserve – A region determined by the Law on Nature (2004) and which due to significant or characteristic ecosystems, geological or physical and geographical characteristics and / or species, as well as the original preserved wilderness, acquires the status of natural heritage in the category strict nature reserve for Conduct scientific research or monitoring of protection. The strict nature reserve is managed with an appropriate management plan, and the public access is limited. It was registered and recorded through 14 sites in the Republic of Macedonia with the status of a strict nature reserve. In the classification of natural heritage, applied until 2004. (Law on Natural Rarities, 1973), the spatial / territorial entities were categorized as natural reserves that entered the general (national parks, strict natural reserves, scientific and research reserves, areas with special natural features, distinctive landscapes) and special natural reserves.
