Marquilov, Socrates (village of Bleto, Demir Hisar, Aegean part of Macedonia, 12. ⅳ 1921 – Strumica, 4 1993) – Macedonian National Dian in Bulgaria after World War II. In the war, he deserted from the Bulgarian army and entered the anti-fascist movement. Due to its Macedonian national determination, it was persecuted by the Bulgarian state bodies (after 1956). He founded a secret independent Macedonian organization – “Ilinden” (1968) at the Pirin region and among the Macedonian emigration. He was arrested (1973) and sentenced to 5 years in prison (1974). He was one of the founders of the legal united Macedonian organization (OMO) – “Ilinden” (ⅳ 1990). Exhibition of Socrates Markilov (recorded on a tape tape of Vasil Jotevski), May-June 1991.
