Lesa

Lesa (Kocekl) ‡ Women’s hair ornament. It is composed of a series of pleted decorations (plaster) made of natural hair. These braids are about 1 cm wide, and 50-60 cm long. They are on a piece of canvas – rich, widely about 5 cm. The head is attached from both sides using hooks. The braids themselves, about a dozen of the number, are attached to one another with a string (streaks) of petty money. In the Kumanovo region, it is known under the name of Lesa, and in other areas it is called Kocevl. As an integral part of the female bridal costume was carried until the end of the last century. J.
