Kaloyan. (ok 1170-1207) – Bulgarian king (1197-1207) of the family of Assenians. He won most of the Western and Northwestern Macedonia (1203). He concluded a church union with Rome (1204) and received from Pope Royal Crown. He defeated the Latines in the Battle of Adrianopol (1205).
