Ivanov, Gjorge (Valandovo, 2. ⅴ 1960) – University professor, a polytologist. Primary and secondary education ended in birthplace. He graduated (1982), Master’s Degree (1994) and PhD (1998) at the Faculty of Law in Skopje on the topic “Democracy in divided societies, with a special emphasis on the Republic of Macedonia”. Elected as an assistant (1995), for assistant (1998) and for associate professor (2003) in the scientific field political theories and political philosophy. Elected Vision professor at the postgraduate studies at the South East European University in Athens (1999) and for a member of the Council of Directors of the European Postgraduate Studies for Democracy and Human Rights at the University of Bologna (2000). Coordinator of the course for democracy conducted at the University of Sarajevo. Founder of the Institute for Democracy, Solidarity and Civil-But Society in Skopje (1999-2006) and publisher of magazine “Political Thought” for political-social issues in Skopje (since 2003). He published a number of scientific papers in Macedonian and English in the field of political science. It deals with the study of the Millet system in the Ottoman Empire. In the immediate elections since April 2009 is elected president of the Republic of Macedonia.
