Firfov, Zivko (Veles, 20. 1906 – Skopje, 21. ⅶ 1984) – ethnomusic and composer. The music school learned in Belgrade, and later studied composition at J. Slavic and J. Arbathic. After the liberation, a series of responsible duties in Skopje: Head of the Art Department in the Department of Culture and Art Zhivko Firfov at ASNOM; Head of the Department of People’s Music in Radio Skopje; One of the founders and first artistic director of the Ensemble “Tanec”; Head of the People’s Music Department at the Institute of Folklore, and later his director. He was a correspondent member of the International Folk Company IFCM in London. It finds its main preoccupation in the folklore field. It is especially highlighted as a collector, melograph and interpreter of the Macedonian music folklore. He collected and melographed over 7,000 folk melodies, part of which were published in the collections “Macedonian music folklore”, 1 (1953) and 2 (1964). He published a number of other expert papers: “Metric properties of Macedonian folk music” (1951), “Dephony of Macedonian People’s Music” (1958), “Macedonian melographs from the end of the ⅹⅰⅹ century” (1963), “Macedonian melographs from the end of Ⅹⅰⅹ century “(1963), etc. Left a dozen compositions (the most famous are the choral cycle “Humoreski”, 1-3 and “spar”).
