Ergas, Shmuel

Ergas, Shmuel (Skopje, ⅹⅴⅰ c.) – One of the leaders of the Skopje Jewish community. He moved to Dubrovnik (1560), where, because of the high reputation that the family had, Shmuel and his brother Yicchak acquired the right to be Levantic consuls in Dubrovnik. They also joined the Skopje Jew Haim Lindo, who was previously consul in Herceg Novi.
