Chemical industry of polymers. The production of polymers in the Republic of Macedonia is the most massive of the 1960s to the 1990s, and then Zamira does not exist, except some resins for varnishes and coatings. The largest producers of synthetic polymers were “Ohis” – Skopje (founded 1956, produced polyacrylonitric fiber, 37,000 tonnes a year, polyvinylchloride, from 20 to 55,000 T per year and polyvinylacetal dispersions, from 10 to 12,000 m yearly, c. “Ohis” – Skopje); “Hemtheks” (founded 1977, produced 33,000 T-year polyethylenegalsteric fiber) and “Sileks” (produces soft and solid polyurethane foams with a capacity of about 2,500 percent).
