Bulkes

Bulkes (June 1948 – September 1949) – Refugee Center for the participants in the civil war in Greece. According to the Treaty of the CPY and the CPG, at the time of the Civil War in Greece in Vojvodina, there was a number of families from the Aegean part of Macedonia, mainly Macedonians, and several homes were opened after the boarding principle for children-refugees in the White Church and elsewhere . At the same time, the refugee center in Bulkes was opened, where about 6,000 fighters and political refugees were taken care of. The settlement turned into a municipality of political refugees and had arable land, agricultural machinery and tools, factory, schools, printing house, kindergarten, etc. In September 1949 About 4,000 of them were moved in Eastern European countries and the Center was disbanded.
