Marble mines in the Republic of Macedonia

Marble mines in the Republic of Macedonia. Varicers and dolomites occupy much of the territory of the Republic of Macedonia. Three regions are allocated: Dolomitic calcical marbles of the Pelagonija massif, in the Western Macedonian area, and limestone and dolomites in the Vardar zone. One of the most famous marble sites in Macedonia is Sevev. It is located on the outskirts of Pelagonia massif, at the border of the mountain Babuna and Kozjak. The following series of rocks are allocated: Biggular sandstones, sandy clays, mechanical material (dethrus) and white dolomite marbles. The most significant are Being Dolomitic Finish marbles with rare clamps of calcity. The dimensions of the roof body amount to 44 x 106 m³ solid mass. The chemical composition is Cavo3 61% and 39% MGCO3. Total ore reserves are 6.471.200 m³. It should be noted that the Mermbers from Sevec have an emphasized blockage, sometimes after several m³ with excellent whiteness that counts them in one of the highest quality in Europe, and in the world. Exploitation of marbles on the territory of the Republic of Macedonia was carried out in the marble-Gostivar, marble-Kicevo, Debrishte, Pletvar, Kozjak, Markov Stickdadarci, etc., but mainly on gray, gray-white and red marbles. In today’s conditions, white marbles are exploited at the site White Pola-Unballovo, in the vicinity of Prilep by the company “Lazaridis”.
