Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics – Skopje – consists of 7 institutes (for mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, geography, informatics and ethnology) and a seismological observatory. He was formed as part of the Faculty of Philosophy in 1946. With five departments for basic natural sciences. As a separate faculty there is from 1958, with the exception of the period 1977-85, when there are 5 separate faculties of fundamental natural sciences. It is housed in buildings built in 1951, 1967 and in 2000. Postgraduate studies are organized since 1969. By 2006 They graduated over eight thousand students and Master degree 400 postgraduates. The basic achievement of the PMF is in the raising of the general literacy of the population of the Republic of Macedonia, in creating staff for monitoring contemporary achievements in the natural sciences and in contributing to the world treasure of the knowledge of these areas. In the academic year 2005/6 Studies are represented in a total of 23 guidelines, with additional 12 sub-sided, for which about 500 semester courses are offered.
