Petlevski, Ordan

Petlevski, Ordan (Prilep, 24. ⅷ 1930 – Zagreb, 22. and 1997) – Painter, one of the key figures of contemporary Croatian and Macedonian painting from the second half of ⅹⅹ c., With value and significance deeply embedded in the Macedonian contemporary art . He graduated from the Academy of Applied Arts (1955) in Zagreb, where he remained to live and work until his death. He was a member of the Initiative Board for the establishment of the Museum of Contemporary Art in Skopje (1963). He had a retrospective exhibition in Skopje (1971 and 1999) and in Zagreb (1999). Ordan Petlevski develops from a stylized figure, through surrealistic colored Dordan Petlevski: “Dead Nature” (1956) La, to Enformel. He created his own art universe filled with strange bioomorphic forms (morbid forms, 1959; Preoja, 1961; Appeal, 1963). In some acts in a subtle manner, records from the tradition of the Macedonian stories and the mystery of the landscape (Macedonian village, 1957) are recognized.
