Mancevski, Milcho (Skopje, 18. X 1959) – director, screenwriter, writer, art artist. He studied at the Faculty of Philosophy in Milcho Mancevski Skopje (History of Art with Archeology). As an American scholar, graduated from the Faculty of Film and Photography in Carbondimes (1982). Since 1985 He lives in New York and Skopje. He is the author of over sixty movie works: short films, feature and documentary films, video videos, advertisers and feature film scenarios, as well as the book “Mother” (2000). Short stories and essays publishes “Nanja American News”, “Zorbere Della Serra”, “La Republika”, “Margin”, “cultural life”, “Forum”, “Nova Makedonija”, “Sinial”, etc. He is the author of the exhibition “Street”, followed by the eponymous photo book. “Before the Rain” (1994) is his first feature film, for which he won the “Golden Lion” for the best film at the 51 Venetian Film Festival and is the first rookie (after Andrei Tarkovski in 1962), which receives this award. Filmov won 30 other awards and recognitions in the world, including the Oscar nomination (1995). In 2000 recorded the second feature film “Dust.” Scriptives for films “Before the Rain” and “Dust” were published in Skopje (in English and Macedonian) as books (2001 and 2002). He was elected as an honorary ambassador to New York (2007) for a special contribution to the culture of the Republic of Macedonia and its affirmation around the world.
