Kitriguri – Hun mood tribes on the territory between the lower Dnieper and Danube (ⅵ c.). Led by the chorgan, passed through the r. Danube and penetrated Thrace to Constantinople, went through Macedonia to Greece (558/559). Defeated, they made peace with Byzantium and retreated. After the defeat of the Utiguri, the advocates were easily subdued (562). Lit.: V.
