Uprising of Dragotot (1255) – a local uprising in Melnik against Nickea power. Dragotota was placed by Nikkeys for the city’s administrator, but was not satisfied with their power and raised an uprising, which has affected the entire region of medium Struma. The rebels surrounded the fortress Melnik, where the Nike Garison sheltered, but failed to conquer it. Emperor Theodore ⅱ Laskaris with a large army, through Sir, headed for Melnik. The rebels erected a wooden compartment (dema) and closed the Rupel Rupen. Nickets at night suddenly attacked and busted the rebels. The same night the emperor arrived in Melnik, he won the city and liberated the besieged nicer soldiers. Nikes cruelly calculated with rebels. Lit.: K.
