Vlasovden

Vlassden (11. ⅱ) – pagan (a literary) and a Christian holiday in honor of the death of the saint Vlasy (11. ⅱ 316), the protector of domestic animals, especially for the stop livestock, a holiday in honor of the large livestock. It contains elements associated with the observance of the Slavic god Veles (C). The holiday is associated for protection against the disease Vlas in large livestock. According to Kuzman Sapkarev, he was respected “as president and patron of the rails and in general all the horny and close livestock”. Eftim opposite testifies that it is a non-working day and for shrooms. On this day, certain ritual prohibitions on the health of cattle are respected. Women prepare ritual loaves (shelves, cake, pie), which are decorated with corn grains, nuts and dried fruits and divide before sunrise for the health of large livestock. In the Christian religion, however, this holiday is associated with the name of St. Vlasy, Bishop of Cappadocian city of the time of the Roman Emperor Diocletian (killed in 316). He is the protector of the city of Dubrovnik, causing the sources and as “Republic of St.. Blassy. ” In the Pirin part of Macedonia is associated with agriculture – to insure full class and make rabbles.
