Spatial planning in the Republic of Macedonia

Spatial planning in the Republic of Macedonia – activity (activity) that coordinate the various sectoral policies and their impact on the territory. The objectives of spatial planning relate to the strengthening of the integration processes of the sectors in the space and the creation of a coherent strategy for providing long-term, comprehensive and balanced spatial and regional development. In the Republic of Macedonia, spatial planning is an activity determined by the Law on Spatial and Urban Planning. For the territory of the state, a spatial plan (spatial plan of the Republic of Macedonia, 1988, 2004), and since 1970. Plans for municipalities and regions are being prepared. Spatial planning is a defined arrangement of relations between society, production and environment to achieve organic compliance in favor of the well-being of the population. Spatial planning as a process produces a spatial plan of the Republic of Macedonia as the highest, long-term and integral document with permanent values ​​that is a strategy for sustainable spatial development of the state, regions, municipalities. As one of the driving social imperatives, the meaning of spatial planning is, through the planning process, to resolve contradictions of different nature and thus the space to adapt to social, technical, economic and cultural conditions. The key priorities of the Spatial Plan of the Republic of Macedonia are increasingly covering: implementation of sectoral policies through planner documents in the function of intensive economic development and improvement of the environment on the principle of sustainability; articulation of development programs at national and local level; Preparation of the legislation relating to space; Implementation of documents related to regional planning planning and regional development. The objectives of this attitude towards spatial planning define the basic strategic determination determined as a higher level of total functional integration of the state space and providing conditions for greater infrastructure and economic integration with the neighboring and other European countries. One of the basic objectives is the higher level of integration of space, reducing regional disproportions and entering qualitative changes in the spatial, economic and social structure, especially in areas with pronounced dysfunctions of social and economic development.
