Pejcinovic, Cyril

Pejcinovic, Cyril (v. Tearce, Tetovo, 1771 – Monastery Lesok, Tetovo, 1845) – Educated and literary worker from the first half of ⅹⅰⅹ c., One of the founders of the new People’s Education and Literature. Together with his father, he became a monk in the Hilendar monastery. He returned to Tetovo and acted in the Kicevo monastery. Bill Abbot of the Mark’s monastery end Skopje (1801-1817). He resumed the Leshok monastery and from 1818 to 1830, was his abbot and in him as a monk remained until the end of his life. Here he opened Kelie school and makes an attempt to create a printing house. Thus the monastery turned into an educational and cultural center of Western Macedonia. As a writer he was formed under the influence of Damascanars. His epitaph Isleman on the tombstone of the eternal home in the monastery yard marks the beginning of the but Kiril Pejcinovic: “Mirror” (Budim, 1816) Vata Macedonian poetry in ⅹⅰⅹ c. Written in the National Language, Pejcinovic’s books are not just a real mirror of the thought world and his writer dignity, but they also represent a kind of value for the overall economic and spiritual life of the Macedonian population in the first decades of ⅹⅰⅹ c. Its activity means its people from the backward and the dark and introduced it into the world of cultural peoples.
