Travertine mines in the Republic of Macedonia. Travertine is known on the territory of the Republic of Macedonia under the name of the desalination. It is an easy and cavalic stone used in construction in the form of decorated stone. It can be easily processed and polished, which is widely used in building and facilitating buildings. In the territory of Macedonia, travertine deposits are set out in the surroundings of Kosovari and Banjiste near Debar, in the surroundings of Katlanovo Bath, in the vicinity of Skopje, with Lipkovo (Kumanovo), the village site in the Ohrid-Kicevo region, near the village. Bosheva in Tikvesh, in the surroundings of Tetovo and Monastery (Mariovo). Almost all those sites, the travertine has a very nice bright-yellow color and is easily processed. Today, several mines of travertine are actively working in the Republic of Macedonia, of which the site of Kuckovo and Svilare should be distinguished in Skopje, Veleme in Ohrid and smaller cells in Mariovo.
