Obrembrian, Joseph (Telik, Ukraine, 18. 1905 – Hollis, USA, 28. ⅹⅰⅰ 1967) – Polish and American Ethnologist and sociologist, lecturer and professor at several universities in Poland and America. He started his secondary education in Warsaw, and graduated (extraordinary) in Krakow (1926). He studied at the Krakow University under the guidance of one of the most famous Polish and Slavic ethnologists, Kazimier Moshinjski. He conducted independent field research in the Balkans, among other things in Macedonia (1927-1928). Joseph Obremobski studied material culture, with special interest in agriculture and huntering. In 1930 He obtained the title of Master of Slovenic Ethnography and General Ethnology. He received his doctorate in London (1934) among the famous sociologist Bronislav Malinovski. He stayed in Macedonia (in Poreche), where he led Field Research (1932-1933), related to the folk culture of the Macedonians. He collected rich folklore and ethnographic material that later served his scientific papers, some of them published in the period between the two world wars and after the Second World War. The remaining in Macedonian language was published in Skopje (2000-2003). His papers filled a great gap in the ethnological and sociological studies in our country. The Macedonian science of great importance is its views regarding the national consciousness of the Macedonians. As a rare foreign scientist from the period before World War II, he uses the national name of the Macedonians and writes about the Macedonian language, the Macedonian culture, the Macedonian mythology, for the Macedonian religious Pantheon, for the Macedonian ritual, for Macedonian magical rituals, for the Macedonian Church, etc. .
