Kozarev-Balkan, Ivan

Kozarev-Balkans, Ivan (village of Dobitter, District, 5. ⅳ 1901 – Dobter, Broken 1. ⅳ 1944) – The first partisan in Macedonia and the Balkans. He participated in the September Uprising (1923), was one of the most active members of VMRO (OB). Haunted by the Chetniks of Ivan Mihailov, illegally lived in Sofia, Sliven, Plovdiv, etc. He was arrested (1935) and sentenced to 5 years in prison. He devoted special attention to the self-education in which Nikola Parapunov helped him. After leaving prison (1939) he participated in the conference to be determined channels for connecting the Macedonian national liberation movement of divided Macedonia. Of 7. ⅱ 1941 He lives illegally. The first armed clash with the Bulgarian police became on 26. ⅵ 1941. He was a fighter at the first partisan troops in the Pirin region, and then commander of the Chefs of the Population after “Nikola Parapunov”. Many times he was convicted of death (in absentia).
